What is ShopperPro?
Created by Goobzo LTD, Shopper Pro (also known as Shopper-Pro Deals) is a browser plug-in claiming to save time and money when shopping online by displaying price comparison and ‘Cash Back’ offers. Although this functionality may seem legitimate, Shopper Pro is categorized as a potentially unwanted application or adware. This plug-in installs on Internet browsers (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox) without users’ consent and generates intrusive ads when visiting shopping websites. Furthermore, Shopper Pro tracks users’ Internet browsing activity and significantly diminishes browser performance.
At time of research, ShopperPro was promoted using a deceptive software marketing method called ‘bundling’ and installed together with free software via deceptive ‘download clients’ and ‘installers’. Today, most free software download websites employ download clients – small programs offering installation of advertised browser plug-ins together with the chosen freeware. Therefore, reckless free software download and installation can result in various adware infections.
Shopper-Pro delivers no significant value for Internet users and is similar to other potentially unwanted applications that install together with free software and generate intrusive ads. Examples include Sense, SaveSense, and Rocket Tab. To avoid installation of this type of adware, be attentive when downloading and installing free programs. If your download is managed by third party software, decline download of Shopper Pro (or other advertised browser plug-ins) by clicking the ‘decline’ button. When installing downloaded programs, choose the ‘Advanced’ or ‘Custom’ installation options, rather than ‘Quick’ or ‘Typical’ – this will reveal any bundled browser plug-ins listed for installation and allow you to opt-out. If you observe Shopper Pro ads when surfing the Internet, use this removal guide to eliminate adware from your Internet browsers.
